One of our favourites has to be the wonderfully eccentric Burial of the Sardine.

If you've never experienced it, prepare yourself. It's exactly the sort of Spanish tradition that makes perfect sense while you're standing in the middle of it...

...and becomes considerably harder to explain afterwards. 😂

We also love the contrast between Pego's lively streets and its peaceful natural surroundings.

One moment you're enjoying coffee in the historic centre; the next you're walking through mountains, wetlands or orange groves.
