How Do You Choose Where to Live on the Costa Blanca?

How Do You Choose Where to Live on the Costa Blanca?

It's one of the first questions we're asked by people considering a move to this part of Spain:

“Where should we live?”

Unfortunately, there's no sensible answer.

Or perhaps fortunately.

Because the best place to live on the Costa Blanca depends far less on a list of “best towns” and far more on what you want an ordinary Tuesday to look like.

Start With Your Life, Not the Property

It's very easy to begin with the house.

Three bedrooms. Pool. South-facing. Nice kitchen. Mountain view. Perhaps somewhere for the dog.

All perfectly reasonable.

But before any of that, we'd ask something else:

How do you want to live?

Do you want to walk out of your front door for coffee?

Would you happily drive everywhere in exchange for peace, land and privacy?

Do you want neighbours?

Do you want to hear Spanish spoken around you?

Do you need shops within walking distance?

Would you rather look at the Mediterranean or wake up facing the mountains?

Those answers can completely change where we start looking.

Life by the Coast

For some people, living close to the sea is non-negotiable.

And understandably so.

Dénia, Jávea and the surrounding coastal areas offer beaches, restaurants, marinas and that wonderful ability to wander down to the Mediterranean simply because it's there.

But proximity to the coast can mean paying more for less space.

That may be absolutely the right compromise for you.

The important thing is knowing that you've made it deliberately.

Traditional Town Life

Then there are places such as Pedreguer, Ondara and Pego.

These are working Spanish towns rather than holiday resorts.

People live there all year.

There are supermarkets, schools, sports facilities, cafés, markets, fiestas and all the ordinary infrastructure of daily life.

For buyers planning to live in Spain permanently, that can be far more important than being able to see the sea from the bedroom window.

You become part of somewhere rather than simply staying somewhere.

The Smaller Villages

Move into places such as Beniarbeig, Orba, Xaló, El Verger or La Xara and the atmosphere changes again.

Life can feel smaller and more personal.

You begin recognising people.

The person serving your coffee may know what you want before you've sat down.

You'll discover which market is worth getting up for, which road everybody avoids during fiesta week and why seemingly the entire village has suddenly disappeared at two o'clock in the afternoon.

Eventually, you may even understand the fireworks.

We make no promises on that last one.

And Then There's the Countryside

For some buyers, none of the above is quite enough.

They want space.

Olive trees. Orange groves. Mountain views. Perhaps a finca at the end of a lane where the loudest neighbour has feathers.

🐔

Country living can be wonderful.

It can also mean driving for your coffee, thinking more carefully about utilities and access, and accepting that popping out because you've forgotten the milk is considerably less charming than it sounds.

Romance and practicality need to coexist.

Try Before You Decide

One of the best things a buyer can do is spend time in several different locations.

Not just on a sunny Saturday morning when the market is open.

Go on a Tuesday.

Visit in winter.

Sit in a café.

Find the supermarket.

Drive home after dark.

Work out how long it really takes to reach the beach, hospital, airport or wherever matters to your life.

A location can look perfect on a map and feel completely wrong when you're standing there.

The reverse happens too.

This is why our property search often begins with a conversation about lifestyle rather than a list of available homes.

We've taken buyers to places they hadn't considered and watched them fall in love before we've even opened the door of a property.

The Right House Comes Afterwards

At Renvida, we don't think choosing a home in Spain should begin and end with a property search box.

Bedrooms and budgets matter.

But so do neighbours, markets, mountains, morning coffee, parking, beaches, dogs, grandchildren, restaurants, peace, noise and whether you'd rather walk somewhere or drive.

Find the lifestyle first.

Find the place that fits it.

Then find the house.

Because a beautiful property can be changed.

Its location can't.

Property. Lifestyle. Real conversations.

Welcome to The Renvida Way.
